Myself and the Eye

“Number 1 Summer Jam” by Me, Myself, and the I’s
- Featured in Episode 0 -

Susan: There is an episode of the Video Podcast that a lot of people haven’t seen called “Episode 0.” It started out as an interntal episode to help us understand what the scope of the whole series was going to be. And we even showed it to a few distribution companies, trying to get them interested in what we are doing for potential funding, and a distribution deal, but to no avail. When Apple announced the video-capable iPod on October 12th, we decided we needed to benefit from that hype, so we immediately released episode 0 in iTunes, and on our MySpace blog, as sort of a teaser for the series, and to get all the technology kinds worked out. It worked. We got a lot of press that helped episode 1 get the exposure it needed to make this whole video podcast thing feel like it was working. But the song in episode 0, well… this music is very deat to us. The song is called “Number 1 Summer Jam,” and its’s by a friend we met through MySpace named Drew, who lives in Texas. This music means a lot to us because we feel like it’s a great audio representation of how our attempt to get our movie out there has been a fumbling ride filled with a lot of mistakes. In the song, some of the riffs are just barely pulled off, and the song struggles to keep itself together, and we really identify with that. And that is why we used it in this episode. We think of this as kind of the video podcast theme song.
